1. Entries must be received no later than November 15 for the fall competition and February 15 for the spring.
2. Entries must be ORIGINAL and unpublished elsewhere.
3. Entries should be submitted using a 12-point font and not exceeding THIRTY-SIX lines including stanza break lines, single-spaced. 
ENTRIES LONGER THAN 36 LINES WILL BE DECLINED.
4. EACH contest entry must have:
    
 A COPY OF THE POEM , with the contest name above the poem's title. The author’s name and address must not appear on pages carrying the text of the poem.
* THE TITLE OF THE DOCUMENT FILE MUST MATCH THE TITLE OF THE POEM.

5. An author may submit only one poem for each contest.
6. A poem may not be entered in more than one contest at the same time. A poem which has failed to win in a contest may later, after the results of the first contest have been made public, be submitted for any contest for which it is suitable.
7. PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED POEMS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE as entries. Poems must not be under consideration elsewhere.
8. Authors grant PSSC first publication rights to prize-winning work. Authors retain all re-publication rights and are free to reprint the work in any publication, subject to acknowledging original publication in The Poetry Society of South Carolina Yearbook. The author guarantees that the submitted work has not previously been published elsewhere.
9. The winner of a prize is ineligible for the same prize the following year.
10. At the discretion of the judges, one or two honorable mentions may be awarded in any contest.
11. Poems entered for contests cannot be returned. They will be destroyed after the awards are announced.
12. PSSC reserves the right to withhold any announced prize.

NOTE: Members submit their poems for free. Non-members must pay $5 for each poem submitted. Please read submission guidelines carefully. Certain contests are open to members only.
